Happy Birthday Maharaja Ranjit Singh!

 Maharaja Ranjeet Singh was a Great Sikh Ruler of Undivided Punjab,  He was a Good Administrative , Humble, and religious one.

 

  He was born on November 13, 1780 and passed away on June 27, 1839.

   Maharja Ranjit Singh first fought in a battle when he was only 10 years old, and at the age of 17, he failed the king of Afghanistan Zaman Shah Durrani's invasion of India.

Zaman Shah Durrani was yet again defeated by Ranjit Singh in the Battle of Amritsar (1797), the Battle of Gujarat in the same year and the Battle of Amritsar the next year.

As a child, Singh suffered from smallpox which resulted in him losing one of his eyes.

5Ranjit captured Lahore in the year 1799, which is also considered as the turning point for the Sikh Empire.

  He was crowned Maharaja in 1801 only at the age of 20.

Maharja Ranjit Singh had eight sons, but he acknowledged only Kharak Singh and Duleep Singh as his biological sons.

 The Sikh Empire, now known as Punjab, was a region spanning the border into modern-day People's Republic of China and Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Under his tenure, the Sikh Empire was very secular since it allowed men from different religions as well, to rise to commanding positions of authority.

 His army even included a few Europeans. However, the British were not allowed to join it as it was believed that they have a very inconsistent nature.

In his empire, none of the subjects were discriminated on account of their religion. He never forced Sikhism on non-Sikhs and respected all religions.

The golden part of the Golden Temple and even some of the intricate marble work was done under the aid of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

 The Sikh army was defeated in the first Anglo-Sikh War and under the terms of the Treaty of Lahore and the Treaty of Bhyroval, all major decisions were made by the British East India Company.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh is remembered for the Koh-i-Noor diamond.

 In 2003, a 22-feet tall bronze statue of Singh was installed in the Parliament of India in his honour. Not only in India but in a French town called Saint Tropez, that had military links with Punjab, installed a bronze bust of Ranjit Singh in 2016 -- and Maharaja is revered worldwide.

A Birthday in Auschwitz Bikenau by Eli Reismann BOOK REVIEW

The unforgettable story of Eli Reismann, who arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau on his 15th birthday and against all odds, survived living hell on his own.

May 1944, Poland. Just a few short days before his 15th birthday, Eli Reismann is sent with his entire family to Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.

The carriage doors open with a deafening sound. SS soldiers stand on the platform, vicious German shepherds at their sides. Both are barking. The dogs bark as dogs do, and the SS soldiers bark orders – “Out, out, leave your luggage and belongings on the carriage and get in rows of three! Women on one side, men on the other side, elderly, children, and mothers with their babies separately.”

Eli’s life was never the same after that day. He lost all of his loved ones at the camp and managed to survive the horrors of the death march on his own merit, despite his poor physical condition and severe abuse by SS soldiers.

"A Birthday in Auschwitz-Birkenau" is an inspiring true story of Eli Reismann. He survived the Holocaust, while facing many challenges. He was sent to Auschwitz on his 15th birthday. Eli lost all of his family members at the camp.

Eventually, he immigrated to Israel where he raised his own family and became a very successful film producer.

I found this to be a very sad story. I have read many Holocaust stories in the past and this one is extremely tragic.

I received "Table for One,Please" by Renat Gur to review on my blog!

"Table for One,Please" by Rinat Gur is a beautifully written story about a young divorced woman with a toddler in the big city.

Her life isn't going as planned. She must try to find her place in the world again.

She tries many failed attempts at dating again. She realizes how hard to find love again. She even makes a failed attempt to get with her ex again. She will have to learn to love herself, before finding a deserving man to be in a relationship with in the future.

It is a lovely romance story filled with twists and turns. 

I highly recommend it!
